It’s a bit of long drive day, so will wake you up early morning and take you to Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura is a capital city of North Central province .213Km (132 miles) far away from Colombo. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka,famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sinhala civilization. It was the third capital of the kingdom of Rajarata.
This city is a living site in the sense that the ruins of Anuradhapura remain a pilgrimage destination for devout Buddhists in Sri Lanka and around the world. The Eight Great Places For Veneration are
Sri Maha Bodhi – It is said to be the southern branch from the historical Sri Maha Bodhi at Buddha Gaya in India under which Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment. It was planted in 288 BC, and is the oldest living human-planted tree in the world.
Ruwanwelisaya is a stupa and a hemispherical structure containing relics, in Sri Lanka, considered sacred to many Buddhists all over the world. It was built by King Dutugemunu,140 B.C.
Thuparamaya is the first Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. Located in the sacred area of Mahamewna park, it was built by King Deanampiyathissa.

Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high.
King Kashyapa built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion.
Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning.
